Against that view comes Usurper, which for $28 delivers radiant and complex suggestions of cherries, chocolate and chalk underscored with a beguiling thread of Cabernet Sauvignon's traditional herbal notes. It has power, but it is from fruit, not tannin, alcohol, oak or over-ripeness.
